The people we know as historical figures were the celebrities of their day.

They were interesting people.

Noble and silly, audacious, compulsive and conflicted.

And funny. People are funny. Some things never change.

Their contemporaries didn’t see them as we see them. They were the subjects of gossip, just as our celebrities are today.

This website is dedicated to telling fun stories about yesterday’s celebrities.

From a contemporary point of view.

With a modern sensibility.

And having fun doing it.

Because the first thing we’ve forgotten about history, is that it’s fun.
